The City of Statesboro, located in Southeast Georgia approximately 55 miles west of Savannah, is a vibrant, growing community with an estimated population of 26,500. The City serves as a regional shopping and medical hub providing daytime services to approximately 50,000. Statesboro is also the home of Georgia Southern University and almost 17,000 students. The City covers 13 square miles and is located close to I-16.

Having recently celebrated its bicentennial, Statesboro operates under a council-manager form of government. The governing body consists of five Council members who are elected from wards and a Mayor who is elected on an at-large basis. The Manager serves as the Cityís chief executive officer responsible the effective and efficient operation of a full-service city that provides police, fire, water/wastewater and gas to the City and some of the surrounding area. The City Manager serves and advises the Council, hires department directors, prepares the annual budget for Council consideration and coordinates City operations and programs. The City has 262 full time employees.

The position requires five to seven years of highly responsible managerial experience in similarly sized organizations. Local government experience and a Masterís degree are preferred.
