Organization: City of Tucson, Arizona Salary: The position offers a competitive compensation package. Close Date: Open until October 24, 2012. Job Description: Tucson, Arizona, with a 2010 U.S. Census population of 520,116 is the center of a metropolitan area of 1 million residents. Tucson has been recognized as one of the MegaTrend cities of the 21st century with its emerging presence as a center for optics, astronomy, and health services. The City of Tucson operates under the council-manager form of government with a City Manager who reports to the City Council. The Risk Manager is a valued member of the Tucson Finance Department who utilizes their professional expertise to implement cost-effective strategies to reduce the City’s risk exposure. Also, the Risk Manager must be an excellent communicator who provides outstanding customer service to City departments. The minimum job requirements are: 1) a bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, business administration, finance or related field; 2) five years of relevant supervisory experience; and 3) the ability to obtain certification from the State of Arizona as a Risk Consultant within six months of employment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position may be considered.
