Fulton County, Georgia is currently recruiting a Director of Purchasing and Contract Compliance. With more than 1 million residents and a General Fund budget of $634 million, the County provides a full range of services that includes Fire, Police, Courts and Justice System, Health and Human Services, and General Services and Public Works.

Fulton County has a Commission-Manager form of government with seven elected Commissioners serving four-year concurrent terms. The Commission appoints the County Manager who administers the day-to-day operations of the County. The Director will serve at the pleasure of the County Manager.

The Director of Purchasing and Contract Compliance is responsible for overseeing a centralized system for the procurement of supplies, equipment, goods and services; compliance with County and State procurement and contracting policies and laws; and administration of the County’s Non-Discrimination in Purchasing and Contracting Ordinance. The Department has 42 employees and an annual budget of $3.75 million.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration or related field (Master’s degree is preferred) and at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing and four years supervisory experience that includes managing procurement operations within a large-scale public sector organization.

The competitive candidate will have experience in organizing and writing purchasing code and streamlining processes. Strong management skills will aid the Department to improve morale, examine strategic processes and develop staff.
