Job Description:

The Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) was created in 1947 to ensure that the 8.2-mile-long, 1,474-acre Pensacola Beach is developed and maintained to serve Escambia County residents and visitors. SRIA manages all land on Pensacola Beach and has developed it into a financially self-sufficient recreation resource and has promoted it as a popular tourist destination. Sixty percent (60%) of the island is public use; forty percent (40%) is residential or commercial use. SRIA’s permanent population is approximately 2,000.

The SRIA is governed by a six-member policy Board. Five are appointed by the Escambia County Board of Commissioners and one is elected by Island residents. The Board appoints an Executive Director to manage SRIA’s day-to-day operations, affairs and to serve as a liaison with outside agencies. SRIA’s 2020 budget is $5.8 million. There are 12 employees who work in the following functional units: Administration and Leasing, Environmental and Developmental services, Finance and Accounting, and Human Resources and Events.

The Executive Director position requires the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, marketing, public relations or related field, at least 4-years’ experience in management and operations of a public or private community to include at least two years of administrative/supervisory experience. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a policy board, have firsthand knowledge of the functional areas listed above and the financial vision, skill, and ability to successfully manage a non-tax supported public agency.
