Job Description:

Waco is the 23rd 'largest city in Texas and the county seat of McLennan County. Waco has a strong economic base and has a vibrant community spirit in a centrally located and easily accessible region. Additionally, the City has a thriving medical community with two major hospitals.

Waco is a Home Rule City with a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council consists of a Mayor, elected at-large, and five City Council Members representing single member districts, all serving two-year terms. The City Council appoints the City Manager, City Attorney, City Secretary, and Municipal Court Judge. All other department heads, including the Director of Housing and Economic Development are appointed by the City Manager.

The Grant Program Manager (a new position) which, under general direction of the Housing and Economic Development Director, coordinates and manages the activities and operations of the federal, state and private grant programs internally and with outside agencies and the general public. Responsibilities include pursuing and coordinating grant submission and grant fund acquisition of federal, state and private housing programs according to City policies.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field and five years of experience in public sector housing and community development which must include oversight over both CDBG and HOME programs or an equivalent combination of education and experience. For example, two years of additional experience may substitute for each year of the educational requirement

Experience in Management / Supervision is preferred.

A Valid Class C Texas DL is also required. Sealed Official Transcripts will be required at time of interview.
