Marshfield, Missouri is the County seat of Webster County in south-central Missouri. The City is located on the highest upland area in the Ozarks. At an elevation of 1,490 feet above sea level, the City covers 5.3 square miles. Marshfield is conveniently located within a three-hour drive of Kansas City and Saint Louis and only a half hour from Springfield.

Outdoor recreational activities abound in the Marshfield area. Eight large lakes are located within a half hour drive from the City. Opportunities abound for fishing, boating, skiing, sailing, hiking, hunting and other outdoor activities in the multiple wildlife areas, streams and rivers within minutes of the City.

The original world famous highway, Route 66 which was part of the original United States highway system from Chicago to California, passes through town. Route 66 intersects with National Bicycle Route 76 (“TransAmerica Trail” from Virginia to Oregon) exclusively in Marshfield.

The City Administrator shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and the Board of Alderman as the Chief Administrative Assistant to the Mayor. The Administrator has control of the administration and management of “government business, officers and employees of the City, subject to the direction and supervision of the Mayor.” City employees, except for police and elected officials, are appointed and discharged by the City Administrator subject to any policies adopted by the Board of Aldermen.

The City provides a full range of services including police, fire, streets, water, wastewater, parks and recreation, planning and development, animal control, municipal court and general administrative services. The City has 34 full-time employees. The total City budget for 2016 is $4,749,789.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration or a related field (Master's degree preferred) and increasingly responsible experience in a local public agency in an administrative and managerial capacity. Experience and demonstrated economic development is strongly desired. The selected candidate will demonstrate strong management and leadership skills, be an open and positive communicator, a team manager, strong in finance and budget, a proven advocate for employee development and skilled in employee relations. Must be committed to and enjoy being part of and working with an engaged community.
