Organization: Lee County, Florida Salary: The salary range is $81,231 to $130,377 Close Date: Open Until Filled Job Description: The Director of the Visitor and Convention Bureau is a senior management position that reports directly to the County Manager. The Director is responsible for planning and promoting the Visitor and Convention Bureau and overseeing the daily operations. The position will also be responsible for coordinating the allocation of funds for tourist tax funded capital projects, community events, and attractions. The successful candidate will need to possess strong inter-personal skills as this position will act as a liaison to various community organizations as well as local, state, and federal agencies. Lee County is ideally located on Florida’s Gulf Coast within 150 miles of both Tampa and Miami. The city of Fort Myers is nestled in the heart of the county which is where the administrative offices are located. The county boasts an ideal year round climate, excellent neighborhoods, and an array of first rate recreational and cultural amenities. From the natural beauty of the Lee Island Coast to the splendor of Sanibel and Captiva Islands, the area proudly boasts of miles of pristine sandy beaches with plenty of parks, golf courses, and marinas for boating and sport fishing. The county is looking for an established professional with knowledge of coastal tourism issues and with a proven ability to promote Lee County Tourism to national and international markets. The position requires a Bachelors degree in Business or similar field including 6 years of responsible professional experience in economic development, planning, tourism, business administration, public administration or a related field with at least two years in an administrative or supervisory capacity. A CDME certification in Destination Marketing and Management is strongly preferred. The position is considered open until filled.
